Activity Summary
The AI Hackathon is a national competition that will highlight students’ abilities in developing innovative AI applications. It will also serve as a skills-building platform by connecting participants with academic and industry experts who will serve as mentors and resource persons. Moreover, the event offers a valuable opportunity for industry leaders to discover emerging talents for their organizations.

What is the AI Hackathon?
The AI Hackathon is a national competition organized as part of AI Fest 2025. It is designed to showcase students’ abilities in developing innovative artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Participants will also gain hands-on learning through mentorship from industry and academic experts, making it a valuable skills-building experience and a chance to be discovered by leading tech companies.
Is there a template for the project concept?
There is no separate template for the project concept. Instead, you will be asked to provide this information within the Google Form after completing your team profile.
How to create the project concept?
Each team must:
- Select a theme
- Briefly describe a problem that aligns with the chosen theme, and
- Propose an AI-based solution (project concept) that addresses the identified problem.
Your project concept may include:
- Proposed AI-based solution to the identified problem.
- Objectives and Methodology of your proposed solution.
- The datasets you plan to use and the sources of those datasets.
When and where will the AI Hackathon take place?
The event will be held on August 11 to 13, 2025, at a partner university in Iloilo City. Participants will be housed onsite for the full three-day hackathon experience.
Who can join the AI Hackathon?
Eligible participants must meet the following criteria:
A team of 3 to 5 members
Senior High School, College students and/or fresh graduates, ages 17 and above.
All members must come from the same school or university
At least one member must be a programmer (ideally, all members should have programming experience)
A student can only be part of one team
What are the requirements for joining?
Teams must submit the following:
Accomplished application form
Project concept aligned with one of these themes:
Alternative Energy and Climate Solutions
Blue Economy (sustainable use of ocean resources)
Agriculture
Health
Parent’s consent (for minors)
Curriculum Vitae (CV) of all team members
When is the deadline to apply?
Deadline of application for participants is on June 27, 2025. After reviewing all submissions, 10 teams will be selected based on the quality and feasibility of their proposed AI projects. These teams will proceed to the main hackathon event, Iloilo Science and Technology University.
Deadline of application for participants outside Region VI is extended until July 4, 2025.
What happens after a team is selected?
Selected teams will:
Attend preparatory webinars on AI tools, ethics, and applications
Be assigned a mentor from the AI industry or academe
Join a 3-day live hackathon in Iloilo City, where they will develop and present their solutions
Compete for cash prizes and recognition during the AI Fest 2025 Closing Ceremonies on August 13

What does participation include?

Travel expenses to/from Iloilo
Food and accommodation outside the official hackathon dates
What are the prizes?
Cash Prizes:
First Prize – ₱50,000
Second Prize – ₱30,000
Third Prize – ₱15,000
Consolation Prizes – ₱5,000 each
