Synopsis

Set during the 1942 Japanese occupation of Iloilo City, Istasyon Numero Nuebe (Station No. 9) follows Andres, a young victim of wartime abuse whose mind retreats into the familiar world of the cinema to survive the horrors unfolding inside the Villanueva Mansion, a former residence transformed into a military comfort station. Through the eyes of a child with a deep love for movies, soldiers become moviegoers, military passes become tickets, and the women imprisoned within its walls become actresses preparing for a performance. Among them is Dona, a captive who quietly offers Andres rare moments of kindness, forming a quiet bond that allows both of them to hold on to a fragment of humanity amid unimaginable suffering. As 1945 Panay liberation draws near and guerrilla forces storm the mansion, Andres witnesses the horrors of war firsthand at an age no child ever should. Amid the chaos, Dona entrusts him with an infant born of violence and makes the ultimate sacrifice to ensure their survival. Haunted by his past and faced with a child who embodies both trauma and innocence, Andres must decide whether pain will define the future or whether compassion can break the cycle left behind by war. Spanning decades from the Japanese occupation to the present day, Istasyon Numero Nuebe is a poignant story of survival, memory, and the courage to choose hope in the place of inherited pain.
